Why I moved into Coaching from PR
Dec 29, 2020For more than a decade, I’ve felt like I’ve had a gift. A gift that has allowed me to see, hear and feel others pain, but also their joy, on a deep level. A gift that allowed me to help people unlock and find what was causing them distress or pain, by a simple conversation. A gift that actually scared me for a long time, because I didn’t know what to do with it. The more I became attune to myself, the more I realized how out of alignment I was with my purpose.
It’s only been in the last 3–4 of years (with age comes wisdom!), that I considered a potential career shift (notice I didn’t say *change*). At first it started as a whisper, but the last year it has hit me over the head like a 2x4. It was time to start and see if a career in psychology was for me.

When the Pandemic hit I enrolled in a 6mo Life Coaching course which I recently graduated from. I realized I had more tools in my toolbox than I thought to help people, and learned even more. It has felt so right. I took it a step further to also explore the clinical side, and will starting at Pepperdine In January to pursue a M.A. in Clinical Psychology with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy.
Sometimes you just have to start. From navigating family dynamics and toxic relationships (friends, SO’s, family), to starting businesses and dealing with Imposter Syndrome and of course, removing dependencies in my life (my vice was Xanax), I’d love to help you. Also, if you’re unsure on what is causing you distress, together we can unlock where to start.
If anything I said resonates with you or a friend, please feel free to share.
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
XOXOX,
Andrea
PS: my PR career is far from over. I am excited at the integration of these two very closely related professions and can’t wait to see how they complement each other.
